Courage is not always developed in moments of victory. Sometimes God builds bravery through difficult decisions, uncomfortable seasons, unanswered questions, and situations that require us to trust Him beyond what we can see.
Scripture
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”
—Bible (Joshua 1:9)
Reflection
We often pray for courage while hoping God will remove every situation that makes us afraid. Yet sometimes, instead of removing the challenge immediately, God teaches us how to face it with faith.
Think of Joshua, who had to lead God’s people after Moses died. The responsibility was enormous, and the future was uncertain. God reminded him to be courageous, not because the journey would be easy, but because His presence would go with him.
God may train you to be brave through small decisions before placing greater responsibilities in your hands. Speaking the truth, admitting a mistake, setting a healthy boundary, or stepping into an unfamiliar opportunity can all become moments of growth.
Bravery does not mean you never feel fear. It means you refuse to let fear become the final authority over your decisions. You can feel uncertain and still pray, prepare, and take the next faithful step.
Ask yourself, “What am I avoiding because I am afraid?” Bring that concern before God and consider one wise, practical step you can take today.
Do not despise the small battles. Each time you choose obedience over avoidance, honesty over convenience, or faith over discouragement, you have an opportunity to develop courage.
Remember, God does not call you to face every challenge recklessly or alone. Seek His wisdom, prepare responsibly, and welcome support from trustworthy people when needed.
As God trains you to be brave, your confidence can grow—not because you believe you are capable of everything, but because you learn to depend on Him in the situations you face.
Prayer Point
My Father in heaven, train my heart to be courageous. When fear makes me hesitate, remind me of Your presence and faithfulness. Give me wisdom to recognize the right steps to take, discipline to prepare, and strength to act when obedience requires courage. Help me face challenges without becoming reckless, and teach me to depend on You rather than on my own strength. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
