COURAGE THAT COMES FROM GOD’S PRESENCE

Please log in or register to do it.

True courage does not come from having everything under control or knowing exactly how every situation will end. It comes from knowing that God is with us, even when the path ahead is uncertain. His presence gives us the confidence to face challenges, overcome fear, and keep moving forward when our own strength feels insufficient.

Scripture

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

— Joshua 1:9 (NKJV)

Reflection

There are moments when life places us in situations that seem greater than our abilities. We may face difficult responsibilities, unexpected changes, opposition, or decisions that make us question whether we have the strength to continue.

Joshua experienced such a moment when he was appointed to lead Israel after Moses. The responsibility was enormous, and the journey ahead was unfamiliar. Yet, God’s encouragement was not based on Joshua’s experience or personal ability. It was based on a promise: His presence would go with him.

This teaches us that courage is not the absence of fear. It is the confidence to move forward because we know we are not facing life alone. When we depend on God’s presence, we can approach difficult situations with greater peace, knowing that our circumstances do not have the final word.

Sometimes, we wait until we feel completely ready before taking the next step. We want every uncertainty removed and every challenge resolved. But faith often requires us to move forward while still trusting God for what we cannot see. His presence gives us the strength to do what is right, even when the outcome remains unknown.

Ask yourself today: Am I measuring my ability to face life’s challenges by my own strength, or by the assurance that God is with me?

You may not have all the answers, but you can pray, seek wisdom, and take the next faithful step. Do not allow fear to make you forget God’s promises. When you feel overwhelmed, remember that the same God who guided His people through unfamiliar territory remains faithful to those who trust Him today.

Prayer Point

My Father in heaven, thank You for the assurance that Your presence is with me wherever I go. When fear, uncertainty, and difficult responsibilities surround me, remind me that I do not have to depend on my strength alone. Give me courage to face challenges, wisdom to make the right decisions, and faith to keep moving when the way ahead is unclear. Help me recognise Your guidance in every season and remain confident in Your promises. May my life reflect the peace and courage that come from walking with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Evangelism Tip

Encourage someone who is facing a difficult season by reminding them that they are not alone. Share Joshua 1:9 and explain how God’s presence can give us courage even when circumstances remain uncertain. Sometimes, simply listening, praying with someone, and offering practical support can demonstrate the love of Christ more powerfully than many words.

Daily Focus

My courage does not depend on how strong I feel or how certain tomorrow looks. God is with me, and I can face today with faith and confidence.
