London, UK – Hundreds of pro-life campaigners gathered in central London yesterday for the annual March for Life, calling for greater support for unborn children and women facing unplanned pregnancies.
The event comes as new statistics reveal a record-high number of abortions in England and Wales, with 252,122 procedures taking place in 2022 – a 20% increase from the previous year.
Organizers and speakers emphasized the need for better resources and services to help women avoid abortion, citing concerns over the physical and mental health impacts of the procedure.
“We’re marching because women and their babies deserve far better than abortion,” said Isabel Vaughan-Spruce, co-organizer of the event. “It’s clear that abortion is not healthcare, and we need societal solutions that support both lives in every pregnancy.”
The march also highlighted concerns over attempts to decriminalize abortion up to birth, with campaigners warning of the risks to women and babies.
Speakers included former abortion doctor Dr. Haywood Robinson, who now campaigns to protect and support both lives in pregnancy, and Dr. Calum Miller, a medical doctor and abortion researcher.
The event drew counter-protesters, but organizers emphasized the peaceful and joyful nature of the march, saying it represented a celebration of life and a call for positive change.
